New Sensory Pod Installed at St John Vianney Catholic Primary School

23 June 2026 marked another exciting milestone for AgileAcoustics as we completed the installation of a bespoke sensory pod at St John Vianney Catholic Primary School, part of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust.

The project was developed to provide a dedicated space where pupils can regulate, recharge and access additional support away from the demands of the busy school environment.

A Bespoke Approach to Sensory Support

Rather than creating a traditional sensory room within an existing classroom, the school chose a standalone pod solution based on our AgilePOD#9 C design.

Working closely with the school, we adapted the pod to create a welcoming and calming environment tailored to the needs of its pupils. Additional windows were incorporated into the design to maximise natural light, while integral blinds allow staff to quickly adjust the level of visual stimulation within the space.

The result is a versatile environment that can be used for sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, one-to-one support sessions, focused interventions, or simply providing a calm retreat when needed.

Bringing the Space to Life

To create a truly engaging sensory experience, the pod was fitted with a range of specialist equipment supplied by Apollo Creative.

Features include:

  • Rainbow Panel

  • Sound+ Panel

  • Infinity+ Panel

  • Fibre Optic Carpet

Together, these elements provide pupils with a rich sensory environment that can help promote relaxation, engagement and self-regulation.

The combination of interactive sensory equipment and the acoustic qualities of the pod creates a space that feels separate from the wider school environment, helping children to focus on the activity or support being delivered.

A Flexible Alternative to Traditional Sensory Rooms

Many schools face the challenge of finding suitable space for sensory provision. Converting classrooms can be expensive and often reduces valuable teaching capacity.

By using a standalone pod, schools can create a dedicated sensory environment without major building works or the loss of teaching accommodation. The pod can also be adapted to suit changing needs over time, making it a flexible long-term investment.

Positive Feedback from Day One

The response from St John Vianney Catholic Primary School has been overwhelmingly positive, with staff immediately recognising the potential benefits the space will bring to pupils across the school.

As demand continues to grow for inclusive learning environments and SEND support spaces, projects such as this demonstrate how carefully designed sensory environments can make a meaningful difference to children's daily school experience.

Supporting Inclusive Education

At AgileAcoustics, we are proud to work with schools, trusts and local authorities across the UK to create spaces that support inclusion, wellbeing and positive learning outcomes.

We would like to thank the team at St John Vianney Catholic Primary School for choosing AgileAcoustics, and we look forward to hearing how the new sensory pod supports pupils in the months and years ahead.
