The pandemic may be far from over, but now that many people are getting back to business, it’s been all hands on deck lately for the team here at AgileAcoustics.

Having recently installed our innovative AgileBAFFLE panels in the diner here at our Salts Mill HQ, we’ve since been asked to fit out another listed space.

The Brief

Working alongside Rance Booth Smith – a firm of architects in Saltaire, we have designed some large vertical wall panels in the café/break out area at Shipley College.

Located in the Salt Building, also in Saltaire, it’s an interesting space with plenty of light, thanks to huge, arched windows. Since the space will soon be occupied by plenty of people, it’s vital that noise is kept to a minimum. Of course, that’s where our acoustic panels come in.

We’ve known the team at Rance Booth Smith for some time, so we were thrilled to be invited to look at the unique space, which we will be kitting out during August.

The Challenge

It’s a beautiful space with plenty of height – and we have created a simple concept that will look great while ensuring reverberation and echo is substantially reduced (to under 2 seconds).

Our panels – ornate picture frames with intricate detailing to the outer edge – will feature a wool fascia fabric from Abraham Moon & Sons. With a non-combustible core, they’re ideal for a listed building like this.

We were also asked not to create too much dust, with our team planning a swift and tidy install from the off.

Using Abraham Moon & Sons wool in the shades Earth Oatmeal and Earth Silt, we’ve created a neutral scheme made up of bespoke panelling, which will liven up the space and ensure it is fit for purpose.

The Result

This represents another exciting project for AgileAcoustics and one the whole team enjoyed designing, making and installing.
