It isn’t enough to have a great looking space; our customers also want optimal sound quality in their hospitality venue – and who could blame them?

In restaurants, cafes and bars, the sound can be overwhelming, so when the owner of the diner at our Salts Mill headquarters here in Saltaire contacted us, we immediately put our heads together to consider the best solution.

After all, the diner is situated in a listing building, which meant the AgileAcoutics team was somewhat limited in terms of the changes we could make.

The Brief

When Maggie – the owner of Salts Mill – originally asked us to transform the existing diner, her only stipulation was this: try not to drill any holes in the ceiling or walls.

The Challenge

The project was no mean feat, but we knew it could be done. So, we collaborated with employee-owned, Sheffield company Gripple to ensure our AgileBAFFLE product could be hung with minimal fuss. Or mess.

Gripple is a world-leading manufacturer of wire joining and tensioning systems, which we used to great effect to hang our AgileBAFFLEs without the dust drilling would cause.

Of course, it took a while – but it was worth it to see Maggie’s face when she eventually set eyes on the transformed space (as seen below).

The Result

“Hanging 58 ceiling panels was a tall order”, says our founder, Stuart Jones, “but we did it!”

Suspending the acoustic panels without drilling a single hole into the ceiling, we made use of Gripple’s innovations to ensure a nice, clean install from the off. The install involved suspending our AgileBAFFLEs in place, which worked beautifully and allowed us to easily meet Maggie’s requirements.

Using a range of coloured BAFFLEs (with an Abraham Moons wool fascia fabric) we livened up the space while ensuring it performs well acoustically.
