Introducing AgileSAFESPACE#5

A curved reading cocoon for quieter moments

AgileSAFESPACE#5 started in a simple, collaborative way.

We were recently approached by a company that specialises in design, refurbishment and furniture for education, school and college clients, who were looking for a curved reading pod for one of their projects. When we saw the initial concept idea, it immediately struck a chord.

The curved form felt calm, welcoming and perfectly suited to younger users — and we quickly realised this type of pod would be a natural fit within our SafeSpace range. From that conversation, AgileSAFESPACE#5 was born.

A quiet retreat for younger children

AgileSAFESPACE#5 has been designed as a small, enclosed reading cocoon, ideal for:

  • Library and reading areas

  • Quiet time or self-regulation

  • Calm retreat spaces within busy classrooms

Its curved shape helps create a sense of enclosure and safety, making it particularly suitable for younger children who may need to step away from noise and activity to read, reset or simply enjoy some quiet time.

As with all SafeSpace products, the aim isn’t isolation — it’s providing a supportive environment that children can choose to use when they need it.

Market-leading acoustic performance

Despite its compact footprint, AgileSAFESPACE#5 delivers the same high acoustic performance you’d expect from any AgileAcoustics product. The pod is constructed from three acoustically engineered sections, designed to absorb background noise and reduce distraction from surrounding spaces.

This makes SS#5 particularly effective in libraries, open learning areas and shared school environments where controlling reverberation can be challenging.

Designed for real-world school use

One of the key design considerations was ease of installation and relocation.

AgileSAFESPACE#5 has been intentionally designed so it can be built by facilities teams and caretakers, without specialist installers. The three-section construction allows the pod to be shipped flat-packed (or as flat as curved panels can realistically be!), making delivery and access into school buildings much easier.

This approach also means SS#5 can be:

  • Easily dismantled

  • Relocated within a school

  • Reused as spaces evolve

Helping extend product life and improve long-term value for schools.

Seeing it in person

There’s a good chance we’ll be attending Education Estates later this year, and if we do, we’ll be bringing an AgileSAFESPACE#5 along with us. It’s a product that really benefits from being seen and experienced in person — particularly the sense of calm created by its curved form.

A simple idea, thoughtfully executed
