Why I Love Working on Bespoke & Customised Pods

Over the past few months, I’ve found myself spending more and more time out on client sites. Measuring up spaces, listening to how people actually want to use their environments, and figuring out how we can adapt our AgilePOD range to meet those exact needs.

And honestly—I love it.

Because we design and manufacture pods here at AgileAcoustics, these conversations don’t feel like “special requests.” They feel like opportunities. Opportunities to push our designs further, to solve real-world challenges, and often to come away with new ideas that we can share with other clients. Some of our best innovations have started with a client saying, “Could you…?”

What clients are asking for right now

A few of the requests I’ve been working on recently:

  • Larger glazing to bring in more natural light.

  • Wheelchair-friendly layouts and automated sliding doors.

  • Special finishes like wipe-clean fabrics for clinical, medical and education settings.

  • White noise integration for total confidentiality and privacy.

These aren’t gimmicks. They’re meaningful enhancements that make pods more inclusive, more sustainable, and simply more useful.

Why local matters

One of our biggest advantages is that everything is designed and manufactured at our Salts Mill base in Yorkshire, using raw materials sourced within a 75-mile radius. This local approach means we can respond quickly to bespoke requests, maintain complete control over quality, and avoid the delays and complications that often come with importing or outsourcing.

The best part?

Good ideas never stay locked away in one project. A bespoke feature from one client often sparks a conversation with another, and before long, it becomes a standard option across the AgilePOD range. That constant cycle of learning and sharing is what keeps our designs evolving. See our Products section for some of our other innovative acoustic product designs.

Final thought

So, if you’ve got a tricky space, a bold idea, or a spec that doesn’t fit into an “off-the-shelf” box—I’d love to hear it. Bespoke pods aren’t a problem for us. In fact, they’re the part of the job I enjoy most. And I’m confident that if you spoke with some of my clients, they’d echo my enthusiasm for industry-leading acoustic pod design (though perhaps with a little less “echo” 😉).
