In 2022 we were approached by Leeds University Business School who were looking for a way to provide agile and accessible spaces for both students and staff to use.

The Brief

The team at Leeds University Business School needed to find a way to create dedicated quiet spaces for staff and students to use to make phone calls and hold conference calls without interrupting their colleagues.

Leeds University Business School is located on the edge of the University of Leeds campus in a converted Victorian school building with a modern extension. The space is contemporary and extremely spacious, but as is so often the case, with few dedicated private spaces for quiet working.

The Business School were keen to make use of underused areas and luckily had plenty available in a large reception area and part of a stairwell landing. Avoiding disruptive building work was also an important consideration, and so installing our AgilePOD acoustic office pods offered the perfect solution.

The Solution

Leeds University Business School’s spacious reception area is light and airy, with large windows to let light flood in. We knew that a trio of our AgilePOD#1 acoustic pods would be perfect for this location and the team at the Business School chose pods in shades of blue, green and orange.

The AgilePOD#1 has a curved, cocoon-like stylish design which complements the contemporary interior of the Business School. Designed to seat up to two people, an AgilePOD#1 also has space for a small table and two chairs. In addition, thanks to the unique acoustic design of the AgilePOD#1, it offers the perfect quiet space for making phone calls or video conferencing.

For Leeds University Business School’s stairwell areas we recommended our AgilePOD#6 which are one person office pods. In a different design to the AgilePOD#1, the AgilePOD#6 has a curved front and flat back, making ideal for placing flush against a wall. An AgilePOD#6 fitted in an attractive shade of blue fitted perfectly into a landing space in one of the Business School’s stairwells, whilst we installed two more AgilePOD#6 in an eye-catching shade of bright pink in a larger space at the bottom of a staircase.
