Agile Acoustic Pods for Healthcare: Johnson Medical Practice, Leicester
Date 27.01.2026 Author: Stuart Jones
We’ve recently completed our first clinical pod project for Johnson Medical Practice, delivering three agile consultation pods within their busy Leicester surgery.
The project began in April 2025, when Asma from Johnson Medical Practice contacted AgileAcoustics looking for a solution to create additional consultation rooms—without permanent building works and without compromising patient privacy..
The Brief
From the outset, the requirements were clear and well defined:
Three consultation rooms, created within the existing footprint of the practice
Pods to be fully agile and not fixed, allowing future relocation if required
100% speech privacy, even in high-traffic areas
Wipe-clean finishes, suitable for healthcare environments and compliant with cleaning protocols
We knew immediately that our AgilePOD solution could more than meet the brief.
Privacy Where It Matters Most
Two of the pods are located directly within the main reception area—traditionally one of the most acoustically challenging spaces in any GP surgery.
To ensure complete speech privacy, we installed a ceiling-mounted white noise generator within each of the three pods. This system is controlled by the practice, with staff simply flicking a switch inside the pod to activate the white noise when required.
This approach provides an additional layer of acoustic masking, ensuring confidential conversations remain private—even in busy public-facing areas..
Designed for Clinical Environments
All three pods were finished using wipe-clean fabrics, making them easy to maintain in line with healthcare cleaning standards. As with all AgilePODs, the design avoids raised floors and unnecessary complexity, creating a robust, accessible and long-lasting solution for everyday clinical use..
A Growing Area of Expertise
This project marks an important milestone for AgileAcoustics. Delivering agile, non-fixed consultation spaces with high levels of acoustic privacy is an area we’re increasingly being asked to support—and this installation has given us strong, practical experience in meeting the specific needs of healthcare environments.
We’re keen to hear from GP practices, NHS trusts, and other healthcare providers looking to create additional consultation rooms, private spaces, or flexible clinical environments without major building work.
If that sounds like a challenge you’re facing, we’d be very happy to talk..
A Collaborative Process
Asma was a pleasure to work with throughout the project. A seamstress by trade, she brought an exceptional attention to detail to the design and finish of the pods, ensuring they would serve both patients and clinicians well for many years to come.
Following installation, Asma commented:
“It has been great to work with Stuart and his attentive team. Nothing was too much trouble. The install went like clockwork and myself and the practice partners are very happy with the three pods installed.”
