Introducing AgilePOD Flow™

Controlled, openable ventilation. Fully relocatable. Designed to respond.

The Concept

AgilePOD Flow introduces a smarter approach to ventilation inside acoustic pods — combining continuous background airflow with controlled, openable ventilation built into the pod itself.‍ ‍

Rather than relying solely on fan systems, AgilePOD Flow gives users greater control over their environment, while also opening up new possibilities around fire strategy and building integration.‍ ‍

The result is a pod that can remain comfortably ventilated during normal use, be physically opened when users want more control, and be specified to respond intelligently in line with wider building requirements.

All while remaining a fully relocatable piece of furniture.

Why AgilePOD Flow Matters

Acoustic pods are increasingly used for longer periods — focused work, video calls, private conversations and meetings.

As pod use increases, so do expectations around:

  • air quality

  • comfort

  • user control

  • and how pods behave within a building fire strategy

Traditional pods tend to rely entirely on mechanical fans to manage airflow. While effective, this can still leave users feeling enclosed and gives limited physical control over their environment.

AgilePOD Flow introduces a more natural, intuitive layer of adaptability.

Because sometimes you want the fan running in the background.

And sometimes you just want to open the pod up.

How It Works

AgilePOD Flow combines two complementary approaches to ventilation:

  • an integrated fan system providing continuous background airflow

  • controlled, openable ventilation panels built into the pod

  • user choice — use fans, open the pod, or both

  • strong acoustic performance when the pod is closed

This creates a dual-state pod:

Closed
Excellent acoustic performance, with integrated fans maintaining continuous airflow in the background.

Open
Enhanced natural ventilation, improved user comfort, and a greater sense of control over the internal environment.

Designed to feel simple and intuitive — not over-engineered.

Fire Strategy, Ventilation & Real-World Compliance

Ventilation is not just about comfort.

It also plays an important role in how enclosed spaces behave in relation to smoke, airflow and wider building fire strategy.

AgilePOD Flow has been developed with this in mind.

Rather than creating a sealed enclosure, AgilePOD Flow is designed to maintain a more responsive environmental connection with the surrounding building — supporting both everyday air quality and emergency ventilation thinking.

In a fire scenario, one of the key risks is not just flame, but smoke build-up and how smoke behaves within enclosed spaces.

AgilePOD Flow helps address this by:

  • supporting continuous airflow during normal use

  • enabling rapid ventilation through its openable roof / ventilation design

  • reducing the risk of smoke becoming trapped within the pod

  • helping the pod behave more like part of the room, rather than a sealed compartment within it

This is a more considered approach to pod design — one that reflects how real buildings are assessed and approved.

Optional Integration with Building Fire & Safety Systems

For projects where closer alignment with building systems is required, AgilePOD Flow can be specified with optional first-fix integration into fire and safety strategies.

This can include:

  • connection to a building fire alarm or safety system

  • automatic opening in response to alarm triggers, where required

  • coordination with consultant-led fire strategies on a project-by-project basis

This creates a clear emergency response without compromising the pod’s day-to-day acoustic performance.

Importantly, this remains an optional specification route.

AgilePOD Flow is still designed as a fully relocatable furniture product — not a fixed room build.

Layered Safety Thinking

AgilePOD Flow has also been conceived around a more layered approach to pod safety.

Alongside optional building integration, the system can be developed to incorporate a local environmental trigger — such as smoke detection input — to support early opening of the pod in abnormal conditions.

This is not intended to replace a building’s primary fire system.

Instead, it provides an additional level of responsiveness that supports safer ventilation behaviour within the pod itself.

In simple terms:

  • the building remains in control

  • the pod is designed to respond intelligently within that strategy

and users benefit from a pod that is more open, adaptable and safety-aware by design.

Designed for Modern Workplaces

AgilePOD Flow supports:

  • longer, more comfortable periods of use

  • improved actual and perceived air quality

  • greater user control and wellbeing

  • reduced dependence on fixed, building-led ventilation assumptions

  • a more flexible response to project-specific fire strategy requirements

It works like a standard AgilePOD when closed — with integrated fans providing continuous airflow — but adds a new layer of physical ventilation and environmental responsiveness when needed.

A Smarter Alternative to “Sealed Box” Thinking

Different clients, consultants and building control officers often view pods differently.

Some see them as furniture.
Some see them as enclosed rooms.
Some assess them somewhere in between.

AgilePOD Flow is designed to sit confidently in that conversation.

It is:

  • not fully sealed

  • actively ventilated

  • capable of physical opening

  • optionally able to respond to building alarm inputs

  • designed to work with buildings, not against them

That makes AgilePOD Flow a strong option for organisations looking for high acoustic performance without losing sight of practical workplace comfort, compliance thinking and long-term flexibility.

Aligned with AgileAcoustics’ Wider Thinking

AgilePOD Flow forms part of a wider shift in how workplace furniture behaves.

  • Raise&Relocate — the pod can move

  • Flow — the pod can breathe

  • Optional system integration — the pod can respond

We’re not trying to turn pods into buildings. We’re designing them to behave better within them.

Key Benefits

  • Continuous airflow via integrated fan system

  • Controlled, openable ventilation for added comfort

  • Greater user control over the internal environment

  • Strong acoustic performance when closed

  • Reduced “sealed pod” feel

  • Supports more considered fire strategy thinking

  • Optional integration with building fire / safety systems

Fully relocatable and adaptable to different client requirements

Summary

AgilePOD Flow introduces a new layer of adaptability to the acoustic pod.

By combining proven fan-assisted airflow with controlled, openable ventilation, it gives users more comfort and control in normal use — while also supporting a more thoughtful response to airflow, smoke behaviour and building fire strategy.

The result is a pod that feels better to use, sits more confidently within modern building conversations, and stays true to everything that makes AgilePOD flexible, inclusive and easy to deploy.
