AgileDIVIDE & Modulise: Helping Higher Education Spaces Adapt Faster
Date 22.05.2026 Author: Stuart Jones
This week, AgileAcoustics was contacted by two larger higher education organisations looking at how they can better subdivide and reconfigure their internal spaces.
Although the projects were very different, the challenge was remarkably similar:
How do you create flexible teaching, collaboration and event spaces without committing to permanent construction?
One organisation was exploring how to subdivide a large hall space into three or four smaller teaching environments that could be adapted throughout the academic year.
The second enquiry came from a university innovation hub looking at how they could make better use of their event space by introducing movable acoustic division systems that would allow the space to flex between presentations, collaboration sessions, workshops and networking events.
Both organisations were particularly interested in two of our systems:
• Modulise
And it’s easy to see why these products are starting to resonate so strongly with the HE sector.
Modulise: Flexible Acoustic Division Without Construction
Modulise was developed as a modular acoustic screen system that allows organisations to quickly create visual and acoustic separation within larger open-plan spaces.
Unlike fixed partitioning, Modulise systems can be:
• reconfigured
• extended
• relocated
• stored
• adapted over time
For universities, this creates huge opportunities.
Large teaching environments can be zoned into smaller breakout areas.
Innovation hubs can create quieter collaboration zones.
Libraries and learning spaces can introduce temporary separation without losing openness and visibility.
And importantly, spaces remain future-proofed.
As teaching styles, occupancy levels and estate strategies evolve, the layouts can evolve too.
AgileDIVIDE: Full-Height Division Created in Minutes
Alongside Modulise, both organisations were also impressed with our newer AgileDIVIDE system.
AgileDIVIDE is built using our Modulise acoustic screen system but incorporates our patent-pending Raise&Relocate technology to create movable full-height dividing walls.
The concept is simple but powerful:
Create full-height dividing walls in minutes — then remove, store and relocate them just as easily.
For higher education organisations, this opens up entirely new ways of using large spaces.
An event space can become multiple seminar rooms.
An innovation hub can create temporary project zones.
A large hall can flex between lectures, teaching, exhibitions and collaborative working.
And because the systems are movable and non-permanent, estates teams gain significantly more flexibility without major building work.
A Strong Fit for the Higher Education Sector
Higher education spaces are under increasing pressure to deliver more functionality from the same footprint.
Spaces now need to support:
teaching
hybrid learning
collaboration
wellbeing
events
innovation
quiet study
community engagement
Static layouts no longer suit the pace at which universities operate.
That’s why we believe products like Modulise and AgileDIVIDE are such a strong fit for the sector.
They allow universities to create spaces that can evolve throughout the day, semester or academic year — without committing to expensive permanent alterations.
An Exciting Few Months Ahead
It’s going to be an exciting few months as we begin introducing these systems into more higher education environments.
Universities are increasingly recognising that flexibility itself has value — and that adaptable spaces can improve utilisation, support changing teaching models and create far more agile estates.
We’re looking forward to helping more HE organisations rethink how their spaces can flex, divide and evolve. Get in touch to discuss how we can help make your spaces more agile.
