Acoustic Pod Installation at English Martyrs’ Catholic Primary School (Newcastle City Council)

AgilePOD#9 (Var. C) with Side-Sliding Door

We recently completed the installation of an AgilePOD#9 Var. C at English Martyrs’ Catholic Primary School in Newcastle — a project that has been warmly welcomed by the school’s leadership team.

The Pod was fitted with a side-sliding door, allowing it to be installed neatly into an underused stairwell space. Its compact footprint and thoughtful design turned a previously redundant area into a purposeful, quiet zone ideal for focused, individual learning.

This installation is part of a wider rollout across multiple schools in partnership with Newcastle City Council. We’ve been working closely with their School Organisation and Capital Team to design acoustic pods tailored to the unique needs of each school environment. One upcoming project even involves a Pod installed on a sloping floor — a testament to our commitment to bespoke design and adaptability.

Creating Sanctuary Spaces in Schools

Acoustic Pods, sensory booths, and safe spaces are becoming increasingly popular in education settings. They provide children with a quiet, calming environment away from classroom noise — ideal for independent work, 1:1 learning, or simply taking a sensory break.

Some schools opt for Pods with doors for added privacy, while others prefer open-fronted designs. Thanks to the way we manufacture our Pods — wall sections with built-in air gaps — even our door-free models deliver excellent acoustic performance.

Why Schools Are Choosing AgilePODs

Our education clients consistently highlight the benefits of our Pods over temporary or makeshift solutions like pop-up tents. As one Headteacher, Anna from Liverpool, put it — switching to an AgilePOD has been transformative for both pupils and staff. In fact, it was Anna’s feedback that inspired us to develop a dedicated acoustic Pod range for education settings.

Although this particular Newcastle project didn’t require a side canopy, we often integrate these features to create an additional, cost-effective breakout space. See the Ezi-Dock project for an example of a connected canopy in use.

Supporting Inclusive Learning

At AgileAcoustics, we’re passionate about improving learning and wellbeing — especially for neurodiverse pupils and those with sensory or accessibility needs. Reducing noise and distraction in busy school environments can significantly boost concentration, confidence, and productivity for all learners.
